Residential buildings are among the greatest energy consumers in New York City, but what are the critical steps are necessary to upgrade them? On October 6, CIVITAS will sponsors a panel of professionals in the fields of architecture, construction and public policy to discuss practical tips, recommendations and incentive programs for apartment owners, renters and co-op boards to “green” apartment buildings. The panel will also explore the practical elements of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s PlaNYC 2030 environmental program, released in 2006, and provide an overview of what has been accomplished since the ambitious plan was announced. This seminar will discuss bath components and lifestyle issues that should be a part of your repertoire for design presentation and construction including basic electrical, light and other component upgrades to make a bath the health center of the home. Budgetary restrictions, quoting structures, sourcing and design elements are the core of this seminar. On Friday afternoon, Jamie will be hosting a tour: Homes of The Meridian Street Historic District, including the former Governor of Indiana’s official residence, the home of late author Booth Tarkington, and an exclusive pre-renovation tour of the historic mansion Mr. Gibbs has just purchased and will renovate in 2009-10. |

Park Avenue Holiday Lighting |

New York City, the Fund for Park Avenue For the month of December and ringing in the New Year, Park Avenue will again be aglow with hundreds of temporary light-strung Christmas trees. The lit trees celebrate the season and are a tradition since 1945. Jamie will co-host the benefactor’s party and oversee the decorations and special effects for this year’s festivities. |
